Mike-Sislo9

Arizona Coyotes‘ 7th year right wing Mike Sislo(9) picked up a new contract as an unrestricted free agent on opening day to join his new team.

In 28 AHL games with affiliate Tuscon Roadrunners, serving as assistant captain, he has 10 goals and 8 assists with a -1 rating and has already received a first recall but has yet to play.

The 5’11” 190 lbs. forward was left in the minors under his last deal with Colorado Avalanche and eventually loaned to Toronto Marlies at trade deadline.

It’s definitely possible for the 29-year to earn more time in the big league but keeping him on may need more money than his current club is willing to offer.

Our bet is he continues his pro hockey overseas for 2018/2019 but we do hope he decides to stay.

Mike Sislo (46)

Mike-Sislo

New Jersey Devils‘ 5th year right wing Mike Sislo(46) has been recalled twice in the current season and not only did he get an assist in his first game back up, but notched his first NHL goal in his 4th game on the most recent visit to the big league and then he got a second one in a decisive 7-4 win.

He had previously only recorded one assist in 10 contests while up in 2014/2015 and no points in his 14 appearances a year earlier but has been an effective energy line player.

In the AHL this season with affiliate Albany Devils he’s blowing the roof off his previous scoring totals.

His 27 goals leads the league with 25 assists and 52 points shattering what he was able to put up through his first four campaigns in the prospect system.

The 28-year old is set to become an unrestricted free agent and will likely be looking for his first one-way contract and can maybe expect that from the only team he’s ever suited up for.

Mike Sislo (19)

New Jersey Devils‘ 3rd year, undrafted right wing Mike Sislo(19) is well on his way to career highs with minor league affiliate Albany Devils.

In 27 AHL games he already has 9 goals and 11 assists with a +8 rating. His previous bests are 13 tallies, 18 assists and 27 points in his rookie and sophomore campaigns.

His consistent play in the early going has earned him a first recall.

In his NHL debut he skated 16 shifts for 8:29 total ice time, had two shots on net and was 100% in the face off circle, on likely one fill-in draw; but still.

He was initially signed to a 2-year entry level deal and extended in the off-season for another spot in the prospect system.

The 5’11” 190 lbs. forward somewhat goes about playing his game almost quietly out there but he’s none too afraid to get right in the middle of the action to come up with the puck.

He was pretty much a point-per-game guy in his last three seasons of college hockey with University Of New Hampshire and was team captain in his senior year. Leadership.

The almost 26-year old could find his openings for scoring chances in the show but he’s going to have to dig hard with his ice time.

To be continued..
