11th year wing Rob Klinkhammer(49) started the season in his second campaign of a multi-year deal as assistant captain for HC Dinamo Minsk of the KHL but after scoring only a goal and an assist in 7 games was traded to Ak Bars Kazan, where he’s been decently effective on the scoresheet for his new club.

The rather big 6’3″ 214 lbs. forward left North American pro hockey after 2015/2016 after splitting time with Edmonton Oilers and affiliate Bakersfield Condors.

He has played 193 NHL games with 5 different clubs, including a stint from 2012-2014 exclusively up in the big league and has scored 22 goals and 21 assists with a +4 rating.

In the minors, his numbers surged with 93 goals and 139 assists in 423 AHL games and a +23.

The 31-year old could catch fire in the current calendar but if not, look for him to switch leagues overseas and have more success elsewhere.

Rob Klinkhammer(14) Binghamton Senators

It’s been a long while since undrafted 5th year winger Rob Klinkhammer(14) has played in the Eastern Conference of the AHL, but he’s back for the first time since his rookie season with Norfolk Admirals in 2006/2007.

In 66 games, he had 12 goals and 12 assists.

From there he was signed to a two-year entry level deal and subsequent one-year, two-way contract with Chicago Blackhawks playing mostly for their affiliate Rockford IceHogs.

He was called up for one NHL game and registered no points but did have a shot on net and went a +1 in 11:36 ice time.

He started his fourth year in the Blackhawks‘ organization but was traded to Ottawa Senators and is playing mostly with Binghamton.

In 15 games, he already have 9 goals and 6 assists and his season totals have him tied for first in scoring on the team.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ottawa call him up to have a closer look.
