Ryan-Stanton

Edmonton Oilers‘ 8th year undrafted defenseman Ryan Stanton(8) has played in the minors under contract with a big league team for the past couple of seasons.

He started the new calendar on the sidelines with a broken foot suffered in preseason play.

As soon as he was ready to go was reassigned to affiliate Bakersfield Condors, where in 12 AHL games he has one assist with a +1 rating.

The 6’2″ 205 lbs. d-man has already received a pair of recalls but has yet to appear in an NHL game.

His last time spent in the show was after being claimed off waivers in 2013/2014 by Vancouver Canucks from original contract club Chicago Blackhawks.

He spent the next two campaigns on the blue line for them, after playing in only one game previously, and did pretty decently scoring 4 goals and 23 assists in 118 games with a +14 rating but was left unqualified.

Washington Capitals picked up his option a few weeks into unrestricted free agency but sent him to farm club Hershey Bears to help them win and took them to Finals before bowing out.

Once again he was left unqualified but quickly signed with Colorado Avalanche.

That didn’t change must of his scenery though, as he was sent to San Antonio Rampage to play before being traded early in the year to Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 28-year old will likely get his chance this season but will definitely have to work hard to earn it.
