Spencer-Abbott

6th year right wing Spencer Abbott(11) came back from one good year (14-21-35 and a +8) with Frolunda Indians of SHL to almost ironically re-sign with Chicago Blackhawks on a two-way deal.

On trade deadline date though, he was dished off to Anaheim Ducks, where he continued to excel in the minors with San Diego Gulls.

At the end of the season he faced unrestricted free agency but a couple of weeks before the start agreed to stay in Southern California on an AHL deal.

To start 2017/2018 he has basically exploded for 6 goals and 14 assists in 17 games but somehow was dealt to the lowly Binghamton Devils.

He decided to not take that route, instead signing for the remainder of the calendar with EHC Kloten of NLA.

And you know what?

He’s lighting up Swiss hockey with 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 games with a +2 rating and that could be the last we see of him in North America.

Spencer Abbott(9) Frolunda Indians

Spencer-Abbott

4th year right wing Spencer Abbott(9) started the new year with the Maple Leafs but went a -2 plus/minus with no points and quickly sent down.

2013/2014 would end up being his best season. He scored 17 goals with a whopping 52 assists, good enough for 2nd in the league and first on the Marlies.

These totals made keeping him around a no-brainer as he signed for another campaign but was left in the minors with diminishing scoring totals, then dealt to Chicago Blackhawks just before the trade deadline.

Reassigned to affiliate Rockford IceHogs, it took him little time to get situated as he popped in 12 goals and 9 assists in 19 AHL games, then added another 3 and 3 in 8 postseason match-ups.

Looking at his first unrestricted free agency, the 27-year old decided to head overseas to continue his game signing a one-year term with Frolunda Indians of the SHL.

He’s off to a speedy start with 2 goals in his first pair of appearances.

Spencer Abbott (15)

Very small (5’9″ 165 lbs.) 2nd year undrafted right wing Spencer Abbott(9) signed his qualifying offer to stay in Toronto Maple Leafs‘ prospect system.

He’s was only signed to a 1-year entry level deal after putting up point per game production in four seasons with University Of Maine Black Bears.

In his rookie campaign with Toronto Marlies he scored 13 goals with 20 assists in 55 AHL games and rolled a +9 rating. But that wasn’t it. In 5 Calder Cup Playoff games he popped in a pair and added 3 assists, which was basically on par with what he did in college hockey but was now doing it as a pro.

The 25-year old is a restricted agent once again at the end of the upcoming season. Got to love the fact he use to wear #13.

We like his odds.
