Zach-Sill

Washington Capitals‘ 7th year center Zach Sill(23) played an entire campaign in the NHL splitting time in 2014/2015 with his team of 5+ seasons Pittsburgh Penguins and then was traded to Toronto Maple Leafs late to finish out the calendar.

The unrestricted free agent was signed to a new one-year deal with his third team.

He would start the new season as a late training camp cut reassigned to affiliate Hershey Bears, where he was named as an assistant captain.

Rather than pouting about playing in the minors again, he got right to business and popped in a pair of goals and 7 assists in 30 AHL games with a +6 rating.

His efforts would be noticed, earning his first recall just after the Christmas holiday.

In 5 games he scored his 1st goal (2nd overall) with his new squad and is earning more playing time, skating 17 shifts for 13:35 total ice in his last game and was 43% in the face off dot. He also got his tally on his only shot on net making that 100% accuracy.

The now 27-year old is playing like he wants to stick with the big club and could be given that opportunity.

Zach Sill(22) Toronto Maple Leafs

Zach-Sill

6th year undrafted center Zach Sill(22) was probably a bit surprised and happy to be dealt before the trade deadline from Pittsburgh Penguins to the rebuilding Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 6′ 205 lbs. fourth line agitator started his pro career in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for two seasons before scoring his first major contract, which was extended twice.

It’s up at the end of the current campaign so he’ll have to prove himself with his new team to earn another deal.

2014-2015 has been the 26-year old’s first full run in the show but he’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.

Not exactly know for his scoring prowess, although he did score his first NHL goal and added a pair of assists, he’s mostly used to get under the skin of opponents and welcomes any encounter.

He has 5 fighting majors this season and will likely battle his way into a new contract.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins‘ 3rd year undrafted center Zach Sill(11) isn’t exactly known for his prolific goal scoring/point production: 10 goals, 7 assists in 68 AHL games this season.

But sometimes it’s not how many but when they happen and his 2nd of the AHL Calder Cup Quarterfinals was the gwg in the pivotal game 5 vs. Hershey Bears to move them along to the next round.

The 6′ 200 lbs. forward signed his first NHL contract, a two-year two-way deal, in 2011 that keeps him in the Pittsburgh system through the end of 2013.

He’s played 223 career games with Baby Pens scoring 29 goals and 34 assists.

The 23-year old will be looking to impress in the next training camp, especially considering the quick playoff exit of the highly touted parent club.
